vanstack.

About the project

Vanstack is the open documentation of a smart camper build on a MAN TGE: an all-electric interior with no gas, a 48 V system, solar and control through Home Assistant. I describe the camper’s stack layer by layer - from the battery down to the last fuse.

Who I am

My name is Mateusz Brzeziński. I am an internet nomad and work remotely, so the camper also has to be an office on the road - with power, internet and heating I can control from my phone. I like new technology and I am a fan of electric cars.

The base vehicle is still a diesel - out of pragmatism, not conviction. Electric vans in this class do not yet have enough payload for the build I have in mind. When a good electric base comes along, I will return to the topic.

What you will find here

  • Guides - specific installations step by step, with costs and time.
  • Decisions - what I chose, what I rejected and why.
  • Stack - a map of the whole system: power, conversion, loads, control.
  • BOM - the parts list with prices, bought and planned.
  • Code - Home Assistant and ESPHome configs to copy.

Everything is open: numbers, schematics and mistakes too.
